Cesilie Garles provides a valuable mixture of professional layers to her professional work at Godfrey & Lapuyade, including experience and study in chemical engineering, criminoloty and biochemistry.
In addition to her juris doctor, she earned a Certificate in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, gaining her an in-depth understanding of the litigation process, procedure, and strategy. She has also practiced family law and has experience in criminal defense.
During law school, she worked as an intern for the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. She was profiled in the annual Dean’s Report for her accomplishments while representing clients in the Criminal Defense Program of the Drake University Legal Clinic. She also collaborated with the Drake University Agricultural Law Center to develop state policy changes to aid in the implementation of Farm-to-School programs throughout the state of Iowa.
Further, Cesilie Garles brings first-hand insurance industry experience to her practice at the firm, having worked as a property damage insurance claims adjuster for a major insurance company in Des Moines, Iowa.
She is also fluent in Spanish, and has utilized this skill in litigation involving spanish-speaking witnesses testifying under oath.
